Cathy Chou

I'm Cathy Chou, an interdisciplinary artist and MA Art & Science graduate from Central Saint Martins with 5+ years of exhibition-making and curatorial experience across Taiwan and London. My practice spans painting, installation, performance, and generative media.

My lessons are designed for students who want to move beyond technique and build a rigorous creative methodology!

Format & Dynamics: I offer flexible, one-to-one online sessions (and in-person in London), typically 1 hour, fully tailored to your background, goals, and level. Rather than following a fixed curriculum, I diagnose your specific creative questions and build from there.

What We Explore: We work through four core dimensions, understanding your creative problem, transforming intuition into structured practice, converting lived experience and observation into creative method, and building a personal research and expression system. This means we integrate contemporary art theory, phenomenology, and visual culture into hands-on practice; develop experimental mark-making and conceptual thinking; and prepare portfolios with critical clarity about your work.

My Teaching Philosophy: I believe your visual language matters more than mastering someone else's technique. My own practice investigates perception, the body, embodied experience, and how observation becomes creation. I bring this into teaching, encouraging you to think critically about why you make what you make, and to develop confidence in your artistic voice.
