I'm a highly qualified and experienced tutor in English, including Academic English for essays, English as a Foreign Language, English Literature and I also have experience in lecturing in Art History, History, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Creative Writing.

I tailor my lessons to suit the individual which means starting out to establish what support you need and how we will structure our lessons. I will also check regularly that the lessons are benefitting you and alter them if needed. I can also provide feedback on writing and set writing or other activities in learning to develop the areas you need.

I like to make my lessons interesting my using multi-media resources and also by encouraging students to develop a sense of confidence and ability to widen their horizons to give them an education that goes beyond just learning one strict subject and introduces them to wider ideas and issues. For instance, in teaching a lesson about church architecture, I would enliven it with images and texts but also show how it relates to wider ideas by looking at literature and art to build a more wide-ranging understanding of wider social and religious history.

I encourage students to think for themselves and engage with me rather than just imparting facts to them, so that we can build your learning together as this will help you to develop abilities beyond just the grades as this is what employers are looking for and what benefits you.
