The first thing I do with any tutee is find out what method works best for them. Once we have got to know each other a bit and got the basics laid out, we will proceed with making sure the foundational understanding of whatever topics they need help with is there, and move on to a wide variety of challenging questions until they can do them in their sleep. When it comes to my studies, I like to revise beyond what is actually required of the spec, so that by the time exams roll around, every paper feels like a piece of cake. Not only does this allow me to step into my exam halls with confidence, but it also gives me a deeper understanding of the subject and prepares me for the next level. When tutoring, I aim to mirror not only my revision strategies with my students, but also my results. However, I appreciate that not everybody is looking for a challenge, and while you may not want to aim for those top grades, the only thing I require from my students is the desire to improve. No matter the starting point, I can guarantee that any student who wants to improve will do so under my tutoring, and the more effort you put in, the more you will get out of these sessions.
