Lesson Content

SATs revision is always tailored to the individual child, but typically includes:
• English
• Reading comprehension skills (retrieval, inference, vocabulary)
• Grammar, punctuation and spelling (SPaG)
• Sentence structure and writing confidence
• Maths
• Arithmetic fluency
• Problem-solving and reasoning
• Breaking down word problems step-by-step

I use SATs-style questions alongside curriculum-based learning so pupils become familiar with both the content and the format of the tests.

How Lessons Work

Each lesson is carefully structured to maximise progress:
• A short recap to activate prior learning
• Clear explanation and modelling of new or tricky concepts
• Guided practice with support and scaffolding
• Independent questions to build confidence
• Gentle reflection and feedback at the end

I focus on exam techniques, such as reading questions carefully, managing time, and checking work—skills that often make a big difference in SATs outcomes.

Lesson Dynamics & Teaching Style
• Calm, encouraging, and patient
• Adapted to different learning styles and needs
• Emphasis on confidence, resilience, and a growth mindset
• Praise effort as well as achievement

I understand that SATs can feel stressful, so I work hard to reduce anxiety and help children see revision as something achievable and manageable.

My Aim

My goal is not just to improve SATs results, but to help children:
• Feel confident in their abilities
• Develop strong foundations in English and Maths
• Approach assessments with a positive mindset
