I have tutored many pupils online over the last couple of years with ages ranging from 6 years old to 16 years old. I have been given 5* reviews and praise for my work. My aim in tutoring is to provide a safe, relaxing environment for my pupils to feel safe in asking questions. I have had a pupil achieve two grades above her predicted before she started working with me, but more importantly to me went from hating Maths to enjoying it and wanting to study it for A-Levels. Equally, I have worked with SATs pupils to improve attainment whilst ensure pupils aren't overwhelmed and enjoy the subject. I have also worked with younger pupils to help set a strong foundation of knowledge as they go forwards with Maths in their schooling careers, or with lower secondary years to build that level of knowledge ready for their GCSEs. Alongside Maths, I have also taught Sciences and English, if this is something of interest to you just ask as it is also an option. If you pick me as your tutor, we will spend the first session or two doing baseline assessments so that I can see areas of weakness and strength, and so that I can start to learn how you think in order to best teach and work with you. After this we will start with a topic and only move on when we are both happy you are ready to do so. Generally, I will show a question on the board, then we will do one together, then I will give some to do. The board is interactive but lots of my pupils like to bring paper and a pen to work out their answers. We look at the answer together, find out what the marks were for and develop into more complex questions. For younger pupils this might be split into a couple of topics, for example we might spend 15 mins at the start of every session on times tables, then 30 mins of a topic content, then 15 mins on mental Maths. However, there is always flexibility to this method depending on the pupil. I look forward to hearing from you!
