I am a student starting university in September and I teach a range of age groups. I have experience as a 11+ tutor of students ranging from year 3 to year 5. In regards to my lesson methodology, I like to primarily go through content and key information required for that initial part of the lesson. Consequently, we will then work together on a set of practice questions of a range of difficulties to best prepare my students for their exams. Sometimes, I usually provide a sheet of questions to complete in their own time for the next lesson so that I can ensure my students have deeply understood the topic. At the end, I always like to reserve at least 10 minutes for any specific questions or difficulties students may have to provide more personalised lessons and ensure that each student gains the most they can from each lesson. This format of lessons is more or less applicable for my lessons with Maths GCSE students and Maths/Further Maths A-level students. Whilst I have less experience teaching older students, I self-taught myself the entire year 13 content for both subjects and was predicted top grades, so I would like to help other students unlock that same potential too!
