I have a Masters of Arts degree in Spanish and French from the University of Glasgow. I am currently working as an English language assistant at a high school in Madrid, teaching students from ages 11 t0 18. Additionally, I give private English classes to four primary aged students, meaning I have experience working with a variety of ages. I am passionate about learning foreign languages and I believe that it should be a fun and engaging process. To this end, during my classes I use resources such as online quizzes, games and worksheets. I also find that videos and podcasts are great tools to practice speaking, as we can listen to a video about a particular topic and then discuss it. In my lessons, I like to understand my student's needs and goals and base lesson plans around that. If you want to practice grammar, we can do worksheets and games. If you'd like to improve your listening skills, we can use songs and Youtube videos. Given my background in learning foreign languages, I understand how important it is to be interested in the lessons and therefore, I ask my students what their hobbies and likes are and try to incorporate this into our classes as much as possible. Furthermore, I believe the key to being a good English tutor is understanding student's motivations for learning English; is it to pass an exam, get a job or even to travel abroad? Whatever your reason is for learning English, I have a lesson for you!
