About me

My name is Ben Thompson, I am a PhD in Political Science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, specialising in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, geo-economics and security.

I have just under three years of teaching experience, mostly as a tutor for KS2, GCSE and A-Level students in Maths, Economics, History and Finance.

I like to work closely with the curriculum, textbooks but at a pace suita...
My name is Ben Thompson, I am a PhD in Political Science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, specialising in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, geo-economics and security.

I have just under three years of teaching experience, mostly as a tutor for KS2, GCSE and A-Level students in Maths, Economics, History and Finance.

I like to work closely with the curriculum, textbooks but at a pace suitable for you. Generally, we will find your strengths and weakness and practice exams questions to improve your grades. I also work at a university teaching in international finance, I have a first class Masters Degree from UCL in Russian and Post-Soviet politics, I lived in Moscow, I speak Russian and work for a geo-economics research institute, so I can assist in essays, exams and research topics.

I have been really impressed with Ben as a tutor. His communication has been prompt and efficient. He was well prepared for the session with my son, and had obviously done research ahead of it regarding exam boards and papers. He engaged exceptionally well with my son, so.much so that when the session finished my son said he loved maths! (This isn't something I ever thought I'd hear him say.) From our experience, I highly recommend Ben as a maths tutor.
