Ben Cross

Hello! My name is Ben, and I’m passionate about helping students gain confidence and achieve success in both Maths and English. I hold a BSc in Mathematics (2:1) and a Master’s degree in Creative Writing (Merit), which means I bring both analytical precision and creativity to my teaching.

Teaching Experience
I began tutoring during my Master’s, supporting course mates with proofreading, editing, and developing their writing. Since then, I have worked as a private tutor, helping students improve academic and creative writing, as well as strengthening their Maths skills from foundational concepts to exam preparation. I adapt my lessons to each student’s learning style, making complex ideas approachable and encouraging independent thinking.

My Approach
I believe learning is most effective when it is engaging, tailored, and confidence-building. In English, I focus on grammar, structure, vocabulary, and creative expression. In Maths, I break down problems into manageable steps, helping students understand concepts clearly and apply them confidently. Together, we’ll set goals, celebrate progress, and make learning both effective and enjoyable.
