Normally, I will teach through the examination format, so you are best prepared. For example, if we are focusing on ELAT examination, we will walk through the close analysis of two extracts together, brainstorm ideas about how we would approach it, and then structure an essay plan surrounding the extracts. For a GCSE-level lesson, I am happy to teach a novel/play that a student feels less confident on, and then help them brainstorm around past or likely exam questions.
I have first hand experience with Oxbridge admissions, and the tutorial system; as such, collaboration and discussion is a big feature of my teaching style. I have worked as a Swimming Teacher as well with a close focus on the support of children who are anxious or neurodiverse. As such, count myself a friendly, supportive face who would love to allow a student to excel but enjoy the lessons as much as I love English!
