With GCSE and A-level students, I like to teach the content from scratch depending on the student's prior knowledge in the topic and then go over any bumps or misunderstandings and then spend the majority of the lesson doing practice questions and recognising patterns in questions and the style of answer required to get the most amount of marks. Homework would be optional depending on whether the student would like to do some extra practice. Overall, the lessons would be a no-judgement zone and I have lots of patience as I have been a struggling student myself. Of course, this style of teaching is what I would suggest, however, I am open-minded and understand that everyone learns differently so would be open to trying whatever works for the student in terms of teaching styles. I am also genuinely happy to offer CV and personal statement advice for Sixth form students.
