I have taught A-Level Maths, Further Maths and IGCSE/GCSE maths online for two years. I have helped students with UCAS personal statements and prepared them for entrance exams such as TMUA. In this time, I have gained experience teaching across multiple exam boards, including Edexcel, AQA, OCR and Cambridge International.
As part of my degree, I completed a module called “Studies in Mathematical Education”, which involved a year-long placement in a school and research into effective teaching strategies tailored to individual students. Initially, my role was to assist students with their coursework, but it soon extended to planning and delivering entire lessons.
During my teaching experience (both online and in-person) I have witnessed many students repeatedly falling short of their academic goals. I identified that a major barrier to success was a lack of a solid foundation in mathematics. To address this, I spent considerable time helping students correct past misunderstandings and build a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. Once students grasped the "why" behind the material, they were often able to tackle questions more effectively, with some simply needing more practice.
I earned a grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics and an A* in both A-Level Maths and Further Maths, before completing a BSc in Mathematics. I am currently on a break after which I will beundertaking an MSc in Mathematics at a Russel Group university.
Safe to say, I really enjoy Maths and I believe any student can achieve their goals with the right approach and effort. Ultimately, while I can guide students through the learning process, their success depends on their commitment to follow that guidance and put in the necessary effort.
