I aim to tailor each lesson I teach to the individual student's needs and goals, keeping in mind their pace of learning, understanding level and comfort with the topic. I will always check what they have been studying in class and their biggest worries there, as well as go off their specific exam board criteria to make sure that we stay on track during the lessons. The lesson will usually involve an introduction, an explanation of difficult topics that have been highlighted by the student, and working on practice questions together, until the topic is fully understood. I do also like to give extra bits of information, to improve the student's interest in the subject, as I find that this significantly impacts how well they comprehend new and difficult topics. I have been tutoring maths for nearly three years now, with students ranging between the ages of 7 and 17, and have enjoyed finding new and different ways to explain areas of maths that I may not have spent much time on in the past. I always bring a friendly and patient energy to my lessons, as the more comfortable the student is with me, the more likely we are to improve their grades, confidence and overall enjoyment in maths. Within my degree I use maths consistently, which has also greatly strengthened my abilities as a tutor and mentor, and I really enjoy sharing my passion and interests with my students.
