I start my lessons by going through content provided by the student or myself and identifying strengths and weaknesses in the subject. I can then develop a fundamental understanding of blind spots in the subject, which leads to a deeper understanding through guided examples.
As I'm working through examples, I start by explaining how the problem can be solved, and as the student becomes more familiar with the topic, I'll let them be more independent in answering the question so that they can gain confidence in answering exam questions.
Towards the end of the lesson I'll give a quick summary and give the student a small amount of extra homework so that they can get some practise answering the questions by themselves. At the start of the next session I'll review the homework to make sure the student understands the topic. If the student is stuck or confused with any of the questions set, they are free to contact me for help.
I have a flexible structure for my lessons and I'll adjust them to better fit the student's needs.
My lessons are an hour long and I teach online using Zoom. I have experience tutoring Maths for 11+, but I also tutor Maths and Physics for A-level and GCSEs.
