I believe each student is different and so each lesson has to be tailored to the individual. Our first lesson will be an informal chat where we talk about what you want to achieve from your lessons. I will then ask you to complete a short English test so I can see what your current level is and design lessons around that.
Teaching adults is not the same as teaching children. Adults have independence and often want to be able to have more say in their learning. That's why I take a collaborative approach. We will always work together to discuss how you prefer your lessons to be organised, taking into account your learning styles and your set goals.
If you are preparing for IELTs I can go through past mock papers with you and work with you on the skills you currently feel you need help with.
It is important that you continue to practise your English outside of our lessons together as well. To encourage that, I may set very small practical pieces of homework for you to try out in the real world. This could be something as simple as attempting to speak in English at a doctor's appointment without a translator or communicating with your child's school.
For writing skills, I discourage the use of AI. AI can save time but relying on it too much means you aren't getting writing practice, you, which can slow down your progress in improving your written skills.
