Atalanta Workman

Hello! My name is Atalanta, and I am a CELTA qualified ESL teacher. I have taught English both online and in-person, and it is something I can say I am genuinely passionate about. Learning languages is hard, so my focus as a teacher is to make the content accessible and fun. I am experienced in teaching English for business use, casual travel, and exams amongst other things, and have never had a student of mine fail an exam, or not pass an interview under my tutelage.
I am also very experienced with working with children. With over 15 years working with them in various roles, I am well versed in keeping their attention on task and teaching them in a way that they often don't even realise that they are learning! This skill is vital when teaching children, as making learning miserable for them at a young age can make school difficult for years. The same applies to teaching teenagers, except sometimes it's undoing damage, rather than avoiding it. When teaching pre/teens, my focus is to prioritise fun and choice. I do this by including custom activities based on their favourite hobbies/bands etc., and by asking them what they want to focus on. Of course, I have a job to do, so if their request isn't feasible then I won't deviate from our goal of them learning English, but treating them like the near adults they are makes the whole process more enjoyable for everybody.
