I have sixteen years experience of teaching English in schools in Pakistan. I use direct method and communication approach for teaching English.My lesson plans are based on student centred activities including individual / group work, picture description and realia.All language skills ( listening, speaking,reading,writing) are taught in integration.Phonics are also equally focused in every lesson. Students are prepared to practice language in real life situations through their participation in class activities. Icebreakers are also a part of my lesson plans to get students engage and interact with each other especially at the beginning of each lesson. It helps students to feel comfortable and feel connected with each e important key points of my lesson plans are:
1. Vocabulary and Spelling: Lessons activities are planned to introduce new words to improve students’ spelling skills.
2. Reading: Students are provided opportunities for comprehension activities through fiction and non-fiction texts.
3. Writing: Lessons provide students with a range of writing tasks, such as creative writing, poems and letter writing.
4. Speaking and listening: Group work is planned in every lesson to encourage students to speak and listen which prepares students for speaking in public.
5.Grammar: Basic grammar rules, sentence structure, parts of speech and punctuations are included in lesson plans.
6. Phonics: Phonics help students to decode words and improve their reading skills.
7. Assessment: Activities are included in lesson plans to assess student’s’ progress and to identify areas where they require additional support.
As a whole, my lesson plans for primary school students are highly engaging, interactive and help students to communicate in the target language.
