After that I'd work to remedy any immediate issues the child is facing. After a few sessions, when the child is comfortable with their current topics, we'll begging to dig deeper, explaing the underlying principle of why things work the way they do. This helps build a solid foundation and make math less about memorizing formulas and more about logical reasoning.
