- I am currently a tutor and have been for a just under a year now, mainly teaching and mentoring boys who are at 11+ level or early secondary school. My students had issues with attention and motivation towards their school careers, as many do at that stage.
My role has been a tutoring but also a mentoring role towards them and has proved to be a success better than even I imagined. Due to the fact I am 21 years old, it became easy to from a work relationship with my students since they would see me as an older brother figure and in turn, could not help but be more interested in the lessons and towards life and learning in general.
Also, due to the fact that I remember being that age and studying for 11+ not too long ago, I am able to explain things as slowly and concisely as they need which may sound like an obvious tactic but unfortunately it’s not.
