I am always involved with the student and will try to break down the problem to the basics and work my way in complexity so there will be no gaps left in the knowledge. I will run a very much Q&A style session so It is vital that the student is prepared to bring as many questions as possible so that they are able to extract as much as possible out of the session. The student must bring some form of past homework/classwork or even past papers where they weren't too sure about certain questions. Once I have understood the key areas where I believe the student is able to improve the most, I will always ask the student whether they are ready for a paper which will be compiled by myself to see whether the past sessions have resolved the issue. In a way, you can view these as an end-of-unit test. When I was back in year 11, I remember it was a crucial year for me as the mock GCSE exams were a reality check for me and I can understand the pressure that all the students must be in. Especially, if you are still playing catch up with the potential gaps in knowledge due to COVID. During my time in year 11, I was a mentor for the new coming year 7s so I have got past experience in making sure students are comfortable but are also in the best place to maximise their studies. And remember enjoy life!
