Perhaps my favourite teaching moment happened during an after-school music programme. At the end of the session, we held a showcase for students to perform their songs for parents. One student was so nervous on the day of the performance he told me he just couldn't sing in front of everyone. Instead of pushing him, we talked about what would make him feel comfortable. He had another idea. He wanted to be the emcee for the other students and maybe try performing next session instead. He did a brilliant job introducing everyone and supporting his classmates, and it was such a proud moment. To me, teaching music isn’t about creating pressure to perform, it’s about meeting children where they are and helping them grow in confidence.
I hold a Master’s degree in Music Industry Management and have several years of experience teaching children in both after-school programmes and private lessons. My approach focuses on building confidence, creativity, and a genuine love of music from an early age.
Lessons are fun, supportive, and tailored to each child. Some students love singing their favourite songs, while others are curious about rhythm, musical storytelling, or even writing their own melodies and lyrics. I also introduce basic music theory and vocal techniques so students develop strong musical foundations while still enjoying the process of learning.
My goal is always to create a relaxed, encouraging space where children feel comfortable exploring music, expressing themselves, building confidence, and developing skills they can carry with them for many years.
