My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, interests, and learning style. I work with students from GCSE to Master’s level across English literature, English language, humanities subjects, creative writing, and academic skills. I also support adult learners, neurodivergent students, and those returning to education after time away.

Lessons are available online or in person and are designed to be supportive, engaging, and flexible rather than one-size-fits-all. Some students want structured exam preparation and essay support, while others prefer discussion-based learning that builds confidence, curiosity, and independent thinking. I adapt my approach accordingly.

I have a PhD in English literature and more than ten years' experience as a tutor and lecturer. I have taught and mentored GCSE, A-Level, undergraduate and master's students.

My teaching style is calm, patient, and collaborative. I aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and developing confidence in their abilities.

I cannot recommend Anna highly enough. My daughter missed an entire term of school due to surgery, meaning she had missed the full study of Macbeth—a huge part of her English GCSE. Anna has been a huge support in helping her catch up. She is patient, calm-natured, and has a wonderful way of bringing my daughter out of her shell. She took what felt like an overwhelming amount of missed work and broke it down into manageable lessons. My daughter has gone from feeling completely behind to being confident in her analysis of the play. We are so grateful for the boost in both her knowledge and her self-esteem during a difficult year and her school teachers have already noted improvement in her work.

We are incredibly grateful for the support and dedication Anna has shown while helping our AuADHD son prepare for his GCSE English and Maths exams. She works extremely hard to make every session engaging, productive, and tailored to his needs. One of Anna’s greatest strengths is the fantastic relationship she has built with him. She is patient, encouraging, and really understands how to keep him motivated and confident. He genuinely enjoys her sessions, which has made such a difference to his attitude towards studying and exams. Anna always provides helpful work between sessions and takes the time to mark everything thoroughly, giving useful feedback that helps guide the next lesson. Her communication is excellent too — she is always available to message and quick to respond whenever we need support or advice. We would highly recommend Anna to any family looking for a supportive, reliable, and genuinely caring GCSE tutor.
