My maths lessons are carefully structured to help students build confidence, understanding, and strong problem-solving skills. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s age, ability, and goals, whether they are in primary school, lower secondary, or preparing for GCSE exams. I begin by identifying areas of strength and topics that need improvement, so lessons are always focused and effective rather than one-size-fits-all.

Lessons typically start with a clear explanation of the topic, broken down into simple, step-by-step methods that are easy to follow. I use examples to demonstrate how and why a method works before guiding students through similar questions. This approach helps students truly understand the maths, rather than just memorising procedures. Throughout the lesson, I regularly check understanding and encourage questions to ensure students feel confident and supported.

A key part of my teaching is active practice. Students work through questions during the lesson with guidance where needed, gradually becoming more independent. For GCSE students, I place strong emphasis on exam technique, including how to approach different question types, use working effectively, and avoid common mistakes based on mark schemes. Homework or follow-up questions can also be provided to reinforce learning between sessions.

I aim to create a calm, positive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. My lessons are interactive, well-paced, and focused on steady progress, helping students improve both their maths ability and confidence over time.
