I have 30 years experience. I’m friendly, caring and I tailor my teaching style to suit the individuals needs. My lessons include a range of activities including using PowerPoints, videos, online sites, worksheets, online whiteboards etc. I have taught students from nursery to A level as well as English as a foreign language. I also teach maths to GCSE, 11+ exam entrance, English as a foreign language and history to A level.
In addition, I have special needs experience. I get excellent results and help nurture my students. Many of my previous students remained with me from 7-16 or beyond. I’ve taught brothers and sisters, cousins and friends. It’s not just a job for me, I go the extra mile. Every person is a unique individual and I teach differently for every student accordingly.
I generally start by assessing my students needs before tailoring lessons to suit them. I pinpoint areas for improvement and plan accordingly. My lessons vary dependent
on content and age. Younger students need lots of shorter activities and games to engage them, whereas more mature students may need essay writing skills, grammar or punctuation practise.
Each lesson will focus on the key areas needed. For instance if I’m teaching grammar. I may use a PowerPoint, video, or practise questions along with discussion and feedback for more mature students. If I’m teaching summarising skills I will pick a text which is age appropriate and methodically work through the steps giving clear examples and modelling.
