My previous experience: I have studied psychology at GCSE, AS and A-level. I achieved a grade 8 and GCSE, A at AS, and I am currently predicted an A at A-level (still waiting results). During sixth form I was a psychology department prefect and I helped mentor struggling students in Year 12 and Year 13. I also have 4 years' experience volunteering with young people in mentoring roles and outside of school in children and youth clubs.
My lessons will be targeted on anything you want to focus on. I can cover anything from both Year 12 and Year 13 content of AQA AS/A-level psychology, however in paper 3, I am only able to cover Issues and Debates, Aggression, Schizophrenia and Relationships (I can still teach exam technique for other optional modules, but not content.)
My teaching methods will include guided revision such as looking at previous exam questions from past papers, teaching useful exam tips and techniques and teaching content in an understandable and personalised way with resources I make myself.
I will also assess you with mini tests after we complete a topic you're unsure of, and this will include going over mark schemes and discussing strengths and weaknesses. The tests will just be exam questions of different kinds, covering content knowledge (AO1), application (AO2) and evaluation (AO3).
Before starting any sessions, I will ask you for any areas you are unsure of or struggling with, and I will try to schedule our sessions around the topics. I will email in advance of any content we will go through so you can spend time pre-reading on the subject beforehand. I will also send any resources I use after the sessions to further aid in revision if needed.
