My lessons are catered around the students' needs and learning objectives, ensuring each session is engaging and productive. Having recently finished my GCSEs with all As and above, I am familiar with the current curriculums for Primary school, Secondary school and GCSE. I use a flexible format so students can improve their academic knowledge whether they are a visual learner, hands-on learner, or an auditory leaner.
Each lesson begins with a brief recap review of previous material, followed by some simple starter questions to warm up. Then we begin to learn about a new topic through clear explanations, and sometimes real-life examples so the student can learn how to apply Maths to day-to-day life. Afterwards, active participation is encouraged through questions and problem-solving exercises related to the new topic, and once those are finished, we'd move onto exam questions that have shown up in previous tests, which would be more of a challenge. Before ending the lesson, the student will do a plenary, which are some simple questions and a discussion revolving around the topic.
I encourage active participation and discussion throughout my lessons, and most importantly- asking questions. I believe we learn through being curious and questioning everything we don't understand, so I promote students to inquire anything they don't fully understand.
My approach of learning emphasises building confidence as well as knowledge. I aim to break down difficult topics into manageable components to help students fully comprehend the topics. My first sessions are free to introduce the student to my teaching style and see if it is suitable for them, allowing both the student and the parent to experience my methods firsthand before making any commitments.
I believe that every student has the potential to exceed in mathematics when given the right support and encouragement, and would love to be the source for it.
