Each session begins with a short diagnostic or recap phase to identify gaps in understanding and reinforce previously covered material. From there, lessons are adapted in real time to the student’s pace, confidence level, and learning needs.

Content is tailored to the individual, covering areas such as grammar accuracy, writing structure, reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and spoken fluency. For exam-focused students, I integrate past paper practice, mark scheme analysis, and targeted feedback to develop both subject knowledge and exam technique. This includes breaking down question types, improving time management, and refining answer structure to maximise marks.

The dynamic of the lesson is interactive rather than passive. Students are encouraged to actively engage, explain their thinking, and correct errors with guidance rather than simply receiving answers. Mistakes are treated as part of the learning process and used as a tool for deeper understanding. I place strong emphasis on clarity, repetition where needed, and building confidence through achievable progression steps.

My experience as a private tutor has involved working with both children and adults with a range of abilities, from foundational English skills to advanced academic support.
