My maths lessons are designed to be supportive, engaging, and tailored to the individual needs of each student. I work with Year 3 to Year 8 students, helping them develop a strong understanding of key mathematical concepts while building the confidence needed to succeed both in the classroom and in assessments.
Each lesson is structured around the student's current level, strengths, and areas for improvement. I begin by identifying topics that the student finds challenging and then break these concepts down into simple, manageable steps. I believe that students learn best when they fully understand the reasoning behind a method rather than simply memorising formulas or procedures. Therefore, I will focus on clear explanations, worked examples, and plenty of opportunities for students to practise their skills independently.
My lessons cover a wide range of topics commonly taught in Key Stage 3 mathematics, including number operations, fractions, percentages, algebra, geometry, ratio, probability, and data handling. I can also provide support with school homework, revision, and preparation for class tests.
As a university student, I understand the importance of effective study habits and a positive learning environment. I aim to create lessons where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as these are often the most valuable opportunities for learning. I am patient, approachable, and committed to helping students progress at a pace that suits them.
Throughout our lessons, I encourage active participation and problem-solving rather than passive learning. My goal is not only to improve a student's mathematical ability but also to help them develop confidence, resilience, and a more positive attitude towards the subject. Whether a student is looking to strengthen their foundations, catch up on difficult topics, or challenge themselves further, I provide personalised support to help them achieve their academic goals and reach their full potential.
