With over 6 years of tutoring experience, both on and offline, I have learnt that the most effective tutoring plan evolves with each student and their growth. Before we begin tutoring, I will always make sure that I fully understand your aims and goals as a student, and make an effort outside of our lessons to make sure the time spent teaching is efficient and helpful — feedback is encouraged, never be hesitant to say what is or isn't working for you in a lesson.
The lessons themselves will be on Microsoft Teams, but personalised materials for each student will be made available indefinitely, regardless of whether the student continues tuition. In the past, I have provided week-by-week PDFs to document what we have learnt, Google docs that include key revision material and exam information, and Quizlet sets to help future revision. Once these materials have been created, they will be yours to refer back to whenever you see fit.
As a university student myself, I understand the rigorous workload that schoolwork gives you, and therefore the workload of the lessons will be adjusted for each student as well. If a student wants and has time for homework, it can be provided to enhance the learning process — if not, we will simply adjust the tutoring lessons to make sure knowledge is consolidated without the need for extra-curricular work.
Finally, never hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or troubles with your work. I am always happy to adjust lesson plans last minute, or fit in an extra tutoring session if you see fit, or even reschedule if you are simply not free when you usually are. Being a student is not as easy as it may seem, and tutoring should help relieve academic stress, not add to it!
