I use a hands an approach to learning.
I identify what the student wants to understand. I then break the theory down in to bitesize chunks.
We will then tackle problems that the student may be struggling with together.
The student will then gain more confidence and I let them try a few questions alone. I am there to support and coach the student the entire time.
