Andreas Alexandros Sofianos

My name is Andreas Sofianos, and I am writing to express my interest in working as an Online Portuguese Tutor. I am a native Portuguese speaker currently based in the United Kingdom and passionate about helping international students develop confidence and fluency in the Portuguese language.

I hold a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Universidade Bandeirante de São Paulo and a technical qualification in Chemistry from SENAI in Brazil. My academic background has provided me with strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, which I apply to the teaching and structuring of effective language learning sessions.

Having lived and worked in multicultural environments, I understand the challenges that English-speaking students face when learning Portuguese. My approach focuses on creating practical and engaging lessons that help learners build confidence while gradually developing grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.

My teaching methodology is based on communicative language learning and interactive online instruction. Lessons are adapted to each student’s level and objectives, whether they are learning Portuguese for travel, professional purposes, cultural interest, or personal development. Classes include structured conversation practice, pronunciation improvement, grammar explanations, and vocabulary expansion in real-life contexts.

For online teaching, I use digital tools and appropriate teaching materials such as interactive presentations, guided reading exercises, listening activities, and cultural content from Portuguese-speaking countries. Lessons are designed to be dynamic, supportive, and student-centered, encouraging active participation and continuous progress.

My goal as a tutor is to provide a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable practicing Portuguese while gaining a deeper understanding of the language and culture.
