I am an English tutor with one year of full-time experience teaching English as a second language abroad in Hong Kong. I am an English tutor with one year of full-time experience teaching English as a second language abroad in Hong Kong. I also currently work as a teaching assistant in a high school, where I hold English language learning classes, teaching phonics, for students with learning disabilities. I have achieved a level 3 qualification in lesson planning, content and delivery in teaching English as a foreign language through TEFL. My lessons are interactive, student-centred and tailored to each learner's goals - whether that is improving confidence speaking, grammar, vocabulary or reading and writing skills. I like to use a clear structure in each class, beginning with a warm-up, which normally includes introducing the topics and drilling key vocabulary. Followed by targeted practice activities, for example, producing a piece of writing or having a formal discussion whilst using the key language in different contexts. The targeted practice will vary according to each learner's specific goals and needs. Throughout the lesson, I ensure to make ongoing corrections and give personalised feedback at the end of each class. I drill key vocabulary every lesson and love to use other methods (such as visual stimuli and interactive materials to improve general comprehension and assist with retrieval. I incorporate learners' interests where possible during lessons, real-life examples, conversation practice, games, and level-appropriate materials to keep lessons engaging and practical. As a tutor, I am patient, organised and supportive. I always try to create a positive learning environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions and making progress at their own pace.
