Amy Naylor

I have experience working with a wide range of children aged 3-13 in a wide range of settings. This includes working in the home, in a nursery or in a school. In addition to this I have 6 months experience working in a nursery and 1 year experience teaching 11-13 year olds in a high school as a student volunteer. I am currently studying primary education at the university of Dundee and have good knowledge and understanding of the curriculum for excellence. I have completed higher Maths, Physics, Psychology, Biology, and have an advanced higher in English. I like enjoy teaching one-on-one or in small groups as I like to get to know the learner and the ways in which they learn best. I aim to have strong relationships with the students that I tutor and their parents/carers to create a safe learning environment for the learner to feel comfortable making mistakes and improving on these.
To teach I believe that it's important to work through difficult questions with the learner in a way that encourages them to do as much as they can while also supporting them with the areas that they are not so confident in. In order to get the best results I would like to start learners off by going over the basics of what they know and then building off this at a pace that is both challenging and enjoyable.
