My lessons are designed to be engaging, interactive, and informative. I believe that the best way to learn is through active participation and collaboration.
The format I use for my lessons involves a mix of focusing on knowledge and the specific achievement objectives of the relevant exam boards specification if teaching at exam-level, discussion of the knowledge learned to actively recall what has been learned, and problem-solving activities. My teaching will feature a combination of foundation information and then build upon this with practical examples to ensure that students understand the material. During the discussion part of the lesson, we'll discuss the topics as well answering questions on the content. Finally, during the problem-solving portion of the lesson, students will apply the concepts learned to solve problems of which can be built upon each teaching session until fully understood. The questions if being taught at exam-level, for example GCSE's will be based around past-questions and potential exam questions and topics that may be in the exam.
Having received 9's in English Literature and Language at GCSE level, an A* in A-level English Literature and currently studying law at university, I have a wide first-hand knowledge of what the exam-boards require and expect, the type of questions they may ask and the ways to tick all the assessment objectives. Furthermore, I can adapt to the students learning style as to whether they learn best in a passive recall way and rehearsal of knowledge or through an active -recall, question-focused and exam practice manner.
