I'm a qualified secondary History teacher with four years' classroom experience, currently teaching three A-Level History courses (Ancient, Medieval, and Modern) alongside EPQ supervision at a sixth form college. I hold a First Class BA (Hons) in History from the University of Manchester and a PGCE with QTS from Edge Hill University, and I've contributed pedagogical guidance to a published book for early-career teachers.

I also have experience tutoring remotely, having worked as an online tutor while completing my degree, so I'm comfortable and confident teaching in a one-to-one, digital setting.

My approach to teaching:

I get to know each student as an individual before deciding how to teach them - everyone learns differently, and what clicks for one student can leave another feeling lost. I focus on breaking complex ideas down into clear, manageable steps, checking in regularly to make sure things have genuinely landed before moving on, rather than assuming understanding. I've completed specific training in making content accessible to students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and visual and hearing impairments, and I build this into how I explain and present material as standard, not as an afterthought.

I'm precise about exam board requirements and mark schemes, having taught across AQA and OCR specifications, and I focus on helping students understand not just content but how to actually earn marks in their answers. I take real pride in building a student's confidence alongside their knowledge, so lessons feel supportive rather than pressured.

What I bring:

Patience, honesty, and genuinely high expectations. I tell students what they're excelling at and what they need to do to improve and I adapt my communication style depending on what a student actually needs to feel confident, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
