Amritha Vijayan Vijayakumaran Nair Lekshmi Devi

I am a Clinical Optometrist, researcher, and tutor with over six years of clinical experience and three years of teaching optometry students at Chaithanya Eye Hospital and Chaithanya Institute of Optometry and Vision Sciences. Currently, I am pursuing MSc in Investigative Ophthalmology and Vision Research at Glasgow Caledonian University, where I combine advanced academic knowledge, research expertise, and hands-on clinical practice.

My lessons are aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate optometry students, as well as anyone preparing for exams or seeking to strengthen their understanding of vision science and ocular health. I teach a wide range of subjects including ocular diseases, binocular vision, contact lenses, low vision rehabilitation, and diagnostic tools such as OCT, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, tonometry, and fundus photography.

Each lesson is structured to make learning clear and engaging. I begin with an introduction to the topic, explain key concepts using diagrams and clinical examples, and then reinforce learning with case-based discussions, problem-solving exercises, and practice questions. My focus is always on simplifying complex topics, encouraging active participation, and ensuring that students not only learn the material but also feel confident in applying it.

As a tutor, I would describe myself as patient, approachable, and passionate about teaching. I enjoy helping students progress at their own pace while challenging them to achieve their best. Whether it is preparing for exams, strengthening clinical knowledge, or understanding research methodology, I tailor my teaching to each student’s needs. My goal is to inspire confidence, deepen understanding, and support my students in reaching their academic and professional goals.
