My lessons are individually tailored to each student’s goals, level, and musical interests—whether you're a complete beginner or an advanced musician. I specialise in jazz, rock, and blues guitar, jazz vocals, and music theory, with a strong focus on building your technical ability, musical expression, and confidence.
Lesson Format:
Lessons can be held online or in-person. I begin by understanding your musical background, interests, and goals. From there, I create a personalised lesson plan that includes:
Technical exercises to improve dexterity, accuracy, and control
Repertoire development through songs and styles that inspire you
Improvisation coaching, including jazz phrasing and expressive soloing
Musical interpretation and performance dynamics
Songwriting guidance and support with auditions or graded exams
I also offer focused lessons on chord voicings, rhythmic precision, vocal placement, and stage presence.
My Teaching Approach:
My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and inspiring space for learning. I combine structured progression with creative freedom, so you stay motivated and connected to the music you love. My approach is friendly and encouraging, helping you unlock your full potential without pressure.
A unique part of my teaching is my integration of the Alexander Technique—a method I’ve developed expertise in over the years. This body-awareness practice helps you:
Release unnecessary muscle tension
Improve posture and breathing
Perform with greater ease and less physical strain
Overcome performance anxiety or physical discomfort while playing or singing
This is especially helpful for vocalists and guitarists who want to feel more relaxed and free while performing.
Experience & Education:
I have over 8 years of private teaching experience, working with students of all ages and levels. I hold a Master’s degree in Jazz Music Performance from the University of Liverpool, where I honed both my academic and performance skills.
I have worked as a performer, educator, and mentor, helping students prepare for live shows, music school auditions, and even guiding them through their first steps into songwriting or improvisation.
If you're looking to learn music in a relaxed yet productive environment where your progress and personal expression are prioritised, I’d love to work with you!
