Amelia Shaw

Hi, I’m Amelia! I’m 21 and currently studying Criminology and Psychology at university, but my true passion is helping young people learn, grow, and build confidence. I achieved an A in A-Level English Literature and 9s in GCSE English Language and Literature, and I love sharing that knowledge in a way that’s clear, engaging, and tailored to each student.

I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to celebrate students’ progress and help them overcome challenges while making lessons enjoyable. Outside of tutoring, I love reading, sports, exploring new cuisines, and learning about different cultures. I’m also a big fan of Arsenal and enjoy playing tennis and golf.

I’m patient, encouraging, and committed to celebrating every “lightbulb moment,” helping students feel confident and capable in their learning.

I provide personalised English lessons for students of all ages, specialising in GCSE English Language and Literature. My sessions are tailored to each student’s learning style, ensuring lessons are engaging, productive, and confidence-building.

A typical lesson includes:
-Exploring texts (novels, poetry, and exam materials)

-Practising writing, reading comprehension, and grammar

-Interactive activities, such as PowerPoints, gamification, cooperative and independent learning, and auditory strategies

-Tracking progress through lesson logs and reflective discussion

I have experience supporting students with SEN/SEND needs, adapting lessons to provide step-by-step guidance, visual aids, and interactive techniques to help every pupil feel understood, supported, and capable of success.
