I will focus on the areas of maths that are weaker or less confident in. Before I begin tutoring, I would like to discuss the students thoughts about the subject to find the best approach, and to decide which areas should be focused on.
I believe the content should be first understood through discuss and then put into practice through questions to encourage active learning. I will embed these questions into lessons of other topics to ensure active recall is constantly used to keep the skills.
If the student is at GCSE level I will focus on exam practice; including the techniques that the examiner is looking for and confidence through past paper practice.
I have some experience in teaching at primary school level, especially in helping with homework. I have found that working through homework allows the student to work through content they have already attempted in class, however, this can be so difficult if the content isn't already understood and can feel daunting.
Everyone has a different method of learning that works for them, and I plan to tailor-make each lesson style for the individual student in a way that works for them.
I have a DBS check and experience working with children, from younger years where active play is utilised to GCSE levels where exam technique is emphasised.
