My lessons are structured, engaging, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I begin by assessing a student’s strengths, areas for improvement, and learning goals, which allows me to create lessons that are both targeted and effective. I use a combination of explanations, guided practice, and interactive exercises to ensure that students not only understand the material but also gain confidence in applying it independently.
Being a student myself, this gives me a unique perspective. I understand the challenges students face, from tricky concepts to exam pressure, and I can explain topics in a way that is relatable and easy to grasp. This helps me connect with students, anticipate common difficulties, and offer practical strategies that have worked for me, whilst keeping in mind individuals.
I draw on my experience as an Academic Mentor, supporting over 20 secondary school students in one-to-one sessions focused on key topics and revision, and as a Reading Mentor, helping younger students improve literacy and reading confidence. These experiences taught me how to adapt my teaching style to different abilities and learning styles, ensuring each student receives the support they need.
Where applicable, I follow exam board specifications to make lessons relevant and aligned with assessment requirements, particularly for GCSE and subject-specific preparation. I also incorporate strategies for revision, practice questions, and regular progress checks to help students track improvement and stay motivated. My goal is to create a supportive, structured environment where students feel confident, engaged, and empowered to achieve the best results possible for them.
