Alice Du Vivier Ellis

I am eager to engage with more pupils as they strive towards their target grades and my focus is to help guide and support them to achieve their potential.
I have experience in teaching Geography throughout different stages of school from 10 year olds through to 18 year olds. I have more recently gained experience tutoring pupils one-to-one through Nat 5 Geography, A-level and GCSE with positive outcomes in each case. I was particularly proud of a tutee undertaking Nat 5 geography who had been predicted a D and attained a B grade. In addition, I was an examiner with OCR for this session, marking A-level geography scripts. I have found this to be a valuable addition to my skill set, where I have gained excellent insight into the demands of the syllabus and application of the examination mark schemes. I have drawn on this experience in my most recent tutorials, armed with greater clarity of knowledge as to what examiners are looking for.

I am a supportive and welcoming person with excellent empathy and patience, happy to help individuals with many aspects along their learning journeys. I am a passionate geographer and geologist with a great sense of responsibility and love for the outdoors. Therefore, I enjoy engaging pupils through geography to enhance and enrich their learning about our wonderful dynamic earth.

A main focus throughout my tutorials is to build confidence and familiarity with key concepts of the geography syllabus. Students learn how to apply their knowledge and understanding more concisely and with greater geographical accuracy.
