Hi!
My name is Alex. I have been tutoring KS3 and GCSE for over 2 years, meaning that I have plenty of experience with people just like you! I have achieved the desired grades for over 90% of my students, so you will be in safe hands with me. My speciality is Maths and Computer Science, however I am also very happy to help with any Physics or Music lessons too.
At A-Level I achieved A* in Maths, Computer science, and Physics, as well as an A in Further Maths. I have been playing music for well over a decade, and I currently play 3 instruments and run the university jazz orchestra.
My lessons are always tailored to the individual. I strive to make sure that I can get the most out of each of my students, no matter what level you are at. I also really emphasise building a relationship with my students too. I think that my lessons should not only be a place where you can learn, but also a space where students can talk about their day and what they have been up to. I think that building this rapport is something that really sets me apart, and ultimately makes my lessons not only more enjoyable for the students, but also for me.
My lessons typically consist of several parts. I like to start with a quick chat with the student about what they have been up to, and then a warm up, usually a quick going over whatever we did last lesson to make sure that it stuck. I will then dive into the content for the day, either supporting whatever the student is doing in lesson, or covering another topic altogether. This might mean explaining a topic completely from scratch, or maybe just a quick refresher, whatever is needed for the particular student. I then like to ask some exam-style practice questions to best prepare students for their exams.
