Hi! My name is Alex, and I’m currently studying an Access to University Science course at NWRC, with the aim of progressing to university. Having returned to education after spending time working full-time, I understand how important it is to build confidence, develop a good understanding of the basics, and learn at a pace that suits you.
I have experience studying a range of subjects, including GCSE Maths, Science, Business and ICT, and I’m currently strengthening my own academic skills through my Access course. This has helped me appreciate that everyone learns differently and that some topics can take a little extra time and practice to understand.
My approach to tutoring would be friendly, patient and supportive. I want to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning from them without feeling embarrassed. I believe that breaking mathematical problems down into smaller, manageable steps is one of the best ways to make difficult topics easier to understand.
I would aim to adapt my explanations to each student’s individual needs, whether they need help understanding basic concepts, practising calculations, preparing for exams or building their confidence in maths. I would also encourage regular practice and help students recognise their progress, no matter how small.
As someone who is currently learning and developing academically myself, I understand that education can sometimes feel challenging. I would love to help students feel more confident in their abilities, improve their understanding of maths and develop skills they can use independently.
My goal is to make learning maths feel less intimidating, more enjoyable and, most importantly, achievable for every student.
