My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. While sessions are always adapted depending on learning style, confidence, and goals, I typically begin by identifying what the student is currently working on and what they would like to improve - whether that’s understanding a specific philosophical concept, preparing for an exam, or improving essay technique.

From my own experience studying philosophy, I know how frustrating it can be to try to write an essay when a concept hasn’t fully “clicked” yet. I’ve been in the position of trying to force an argument onto the page without truly understanding the idea behind it - and that almost always leads to confusion and lower marks. Because of this, I place strong emphasis on making sure students understand a concept inside out before we move on to writing. Once the ideas are clear, the essay becomes far easier and much more confident.

Lessons often involve breaking down complex ideas in a clear and accessible way, followed by guided discussion and active practice. This might include analysing arguments together, planning essay responses, practising exam questions, or developing critical thinking skills. My aim is to help students move beyond description and towards clear, well-reasoned analysis.

My academic background - including a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and current postgraduate study at UCL - means I am familiar with exam-board expectations and how to help students develop high-quality answers. I aim to create a relaxed but focused learning environment, where students feel confident asking questions and gradually build both understanding and independence.

Above all, lessons are flexible: the pace, content, and structure are always adjusted to suit each student, ensuring they get the most out of every session.
