I begin my lessons by starting with the basics so that I can tailor the remainder of the lesson to the student's needs. I start by asking a few questions and continue this process until a topic or section of a topic arises that the student can't do. At this point I begin writing out logical methods of how to approach this certain question at which point I go through the particular example and get the student to replicate the method they have just learnt. The first 10 minutes of subsequent lessons are spent recapping the previous one, before moving onto the next topic.
