One of my key strengths as a tutor is my ability to break down maths like a peer would. When I was in school, teachers' explanations wouldn't make much sense 50% of the time, but help from my friends nearly always made sense to me. I am like a mix of both, as I understand both mindsets and how to break down maths for anyone, regardless of ability. I like to teach lessons on Zoom because it allows both of us to share our screens. I can show you how to work through example questions and you can either share pictures directly on the call or send it to me to put up on the screen for both of us to see and analyse. I have found that going through homework to figure out mistakes is an efficient way of learning, but we can also go through questions that I set to do in the lesson or to do outside of the lessons. The more maths you do the better, but if you cannot do extra maths for the lessons outside of them, we can still make it work during the lessons. In the past I have tutored children aged 8, all the way up to 16 year-olds working towards their GCSEs. Regarding GCSE students, I have great understanding of what exam boards are looking for in terms of content in your answers, as well as exam technique. You can't go into an exam with just an understanding of basic maths content!
