In terms of tutoring, I feel that a student centric approach is best practice. As a tutor, you will be working with a student for perhaps 1 hour a week, Vs. the 4 / 5 hours provided in school. As such, the focus should be either on;

Consolidating the weeks learning with the student, either through focussed re-covering of class based worksheets and tasks, as well as additional worksheets, to bed...

Or...
Exam practise - although students do gain a lot of past paper practise in lessons or via mock exams, there can never be too much! A big barrier to success is the confident reading and understanding of exam questions, which will utilise varying terminology that can sometimes trip a student up. So, only through persistent coverage and re-coverage of exam papers, is that improved confidence gained.
