My maths lessons are structured to be clear, supportive and fully adapted to each student's ability and learning style. My main goal is to help students build a strong understanding and confidence, not just memorise methods.
Each lesson usually begins with a short recap of previous topics to strengthen key skills and identify any areas that need more practice. I then introduce new concepts step by step, breaking them down into simple, manageable parts. I use clear explanations, worked examples and guided practice so students can see exactly how to approach each type of question.
After explaining a topic, I give students practice questions that gradually increase in difficulty. This helps them apply what they've learned and develop problem-solving skills. I also encourage students to explain their thinking, as this helps strengthen understanding and highlight any misunderstandings early on.
For exam-focused students, I include past paper questions and teach exam techniques such as how to interpret questions, manage time, and avoid common mistakes. For students who need extra support, I slow down the pace and focus on building strong foundations, ratios and number skills.
I have developed patience, communication skills and the ability to adapt my teaching style to suit different learners from my experience in helping classmates.
Overall, I aim to make maths less stressful and more approachable, helping students improve their confidence, accuracy and performance over time.
