My name is Akonjock Christina Arrah. I am a Cameroonian by nationality, from the English-speaking South West Region of the country.
I have dedicated the past 18 years of my life to teaching English Language to both children and adults, because I believe language is the key that unlocks opportunity. I am a native English speaker, and I bring both academic training and real classroom experience to this role.
I am a holder of the Cameroon Advanced Level Certificate, the Cameroon Professional Diploma in Teaching (CAPIEMP), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Psychology. This combination allows me to understand not just _what_ to teach, but _how_ students learn best. Educational Psychology helps me identify learning barriers early, manage diverse classrooms, and motivate every learner — from the shy child to the busy adult returning to school.
My teaching method is the Competency Based Approach. I do not teach English as an abstract subject. I make sure the learner finds himself and his environment inside every lesson. We use real-life situations: writing a market list, describing our homes in Buea, debating community issues, or role-playing a job interview. English stops being a textbook exercise and becomes a tool for daily life.
For didactic materials, I use the prescribed textbooks and workbooks approved by the Ministry, because they align with GCE standards. But I go further. I believe the best teaching aids are around us. We use stones for counting and prepositions, leaves for describing texture and color, local newspapers for reading practice, and WhatsApp voice notes for listening and speaking drills. This makes learning practical, cheap, and memorable.
In my 18 years, I have taught in varied settings — formal schools, adult literacy classes, and private coaching. My results come from consistency: daily speaking practice, weekly writing tasks, monthly parent/guardian feedback, and remedial support for struggling learners. I maintain discipline through mutual respect, not fear. A calm, safe class is where confidence grows.
What I offer [School Name] is experience, empathy, and energy. I understand the South West context, I speak the language of our learners, and I know how to move a class from “I can’t” to “I did it.” I am ready to align with your vision, raise English performance, and help build students who can think, speak, and write clearly for life.
Thank you for considering my application. I am ready to serve and I welcome your questions.
