Aj Kunarajah

I am a qualified secondary school maths teacher currently teaching GCSE Maths to students from Year 7 to Year 11. I have experience supporting a wide range of learners, from those who find maths challenging to high-attaining students aiming for top grades.

My lessons are interactive, structured, and tailored to each student’s needs. I use my iPad during sessions so students can clearly see step-by-step working, just like in a classroom, which helps break down complex ideas into manageable steps.

A typical lesson includes:
- A clear explanation of the topic using worked examples
- Guided practice where we solve questions together
- Targeted questioning throughout to check understanding and build confidence
- Independent practice with support and feedback
- Exam-style questions to develop problem-solving skills and prepare for GCSEs

I focus heavily on building understanding rather than memorisation, helping students recognise patterns, avoid common mistakes, and explain their thinking. I also adapt my teaching style depending on the student, whether they need more structure, challenge, or confidence-building.

With my classroom experience, I understand the GCSE curriculum, common misconceptions, and how to help students make real progress and achieve their target grades.
